Howdy Folks!!!Welcome to the "NEW" Troop 299 Home Page. Over time we will be revamping the site to bring it up to date. The concept is to have this a living, breathing site updated by troop members. We want this to be your site!
In the mean time we'll repost the Scoutmaster's Corner

Who Are We? Who will we be? How will it happen?
Joseph Sinn Scoutmaster .
In an ever-changing scout troop it is easy for us to forget where we came from. A troop is a living breathing object that needs nourishment from its members to survive.Who are we?
To the best of my knowledge Troop 299 was created nearly ten years ago by a group of concerned parents who wanted to make the scouting program available to their children. At our first meeting we elected a Senior Patrol Leader, a scout named Fred Griefer while the adults met to select our first Scoutmaster, a gentlemen named Tom Fries.
We began with nearly a dozen scouts and at our peak had a membership of around forty scouts. This group set the base for the future and it is because of them that we are here today.
Currently we have an active membership of around fifteen scouts ranging from age eleven to sixteen. We have an average of ten scouts attend our meetings and campouts.Who will we be?
As our own body we can become, to a certain extent, whatever we want. We are currently recruiting and are always looking for new members; both youth and adult. Our scouts continue to plan new events and work as a group to plan their outings.
With their leadership we can continue to re-grow our troop in an effort to stay viable.
Through their efforts they will lead our new members and help to enhance the program for our older ones.
Hopefully all of this will happen with increased membership and increased participation among our youth and adults. How will it happen?
For this to happen we need your help.
For campouts we need parents. For meetings we need scouts in uniform. For better events we need better planning. For an enhanced program we need more funding. While this may seem like a lengthy list with many hands it can be light work.
By volunteering and being involved you not only help yourself, you help those around you. Hopefully all of this will happen with increased membership and increased participation among our youth and adults.
For more information on how to be involved please contact the Scoutmaster (Joseph Sinn) or the Committee Chair (Alice Brewster).
